PMDD Awareness Month
PMDD Awareness Month is observed every April to increase awareness and visibility of a condition that severely impacts many menstruating people across the UK. Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a hormone-based disorder, that severely impacts a person’s emotional, mental and physical wellbeing each cycle. .For many people, living with PMDD can include experiencing thoughts of suicide, particularly in the luteal phase of their cycle. These thoughts can feel intense and overwhelming, but they are a recognised part of the condition for some and may ease as hormone levels change.
Experiencing these thoughts does not mean anyone has to cope alone. With PMDD, these thoughts may come and go with different stages of the menstrual cycle - but that doesn’t make them any less important. If you notice these feelings, it’s important to reach out to someone you trust, speak to a GP or reach out to a support service, such as Hopeline247. Below are some apps which may help manage some of the symptoms associated with PMDD.
